The tender for the supply of superconducting and copper strands for the magnetic system of DTT is divided into four lots:
▪ Lot 1: Nb3Sn superconducting strands for TF coils
▪ Lot 2: Nb3Sn superconducting strands for CS
▪ Lot 3: NbTi superconducting strands for the coils
▪ Lot 4: Copper wires for all magnets
There are few economic operators with the technological expertise and production capabilities for the required supplies. In order to carefully probe the market and with the aim of including as many economic operators as possible, a market survey was launched. The notice was published on December 21st 2018 on ENEA’s website and on the “Appalti & Contratti” portal. Further details on the market survey can be found here. Two economic operators stated in EU countries and eight non-EU participated in the market survey. They were all invited to the tender. The U-BUY platform, typically used by ENEA for managing public procurements is not accessible by non-EU operators, therefore an ad hoc platform has been set up on DTT website. The tender for the ‘supply of superconducting multifilament strands and Copper wires to be used for the fabrication of the cables for the magnets of the DTT facility’ was published on the platform on April 29th, 2019 and has been also published on the ‘Transparent Administration’ section of ENEA’s website (available here).
Lot 1, which is the subject of this Agreement, was awarded to Kiswire Advanced Technology, Ltd (Republic of Korea). The contract was signed by the parties on October 17, 2019.
The Kick off Meeting was held in Korea on November12, 2019 and work has started.
Lot 3 and Lot 4 (Superconducting NbTi strands and Copper wires) have not yet been awarded.
